The up-start microbrewery, The Bruery, in Placentia is creating a buzz in the beer world with its Black Tuesday Imperial Stout ? a $30-a-bottle opaque brew with almost 20 percent alcohol.
?It?s a barrel-aged imperial stout ? it gives it that oaky flavor and allows it to oxidize, which helps increase the alcohol content,? said Bruery spokesman Ben Weiss. ?The hype on this is pretty crazy. We did some pre-allocations and one jerk put a bottle up on e-bay. Last time I check the bidding was at $96. We?re pretty sure we?re going to sell out.?
The 750ml bottle is also hovering in the top five highest-ranked beers on BeerAdvocate.com, a site that, in part, aggregates millions of ratings on thousands of different beers.
