Been passing by this "broasted" chicken place on Whittier blvd in La Habra for awhile and finally was able to try it last week.  Googled what broasting is and found out it is a pressure cooker deep frying method, which sounds dangerous.  Anyways the fried chicken was one of the tastiest I've had, juicy, batter not overpowering and just well cooked.  I wonder if they brine their chicken because it is really juicy.  It's a little shack called Chicken Box next to Marie Calendars, kinda far drive but if you're nearby definitely try it.  Call ahead too, can take awhile.  This hands down beats KFC, Popeyes, and Church's.  Haven't tried Knotts but heard that is pretty good as well.  Also, fried chicken the next day is pretty gross with the oil coming out of the chicken.  When I heated up Chicken Boxs leftovers, it was alot less oil.  Store is decorated weird, lot of scripture, chicken paintings, and Jesus everywhere, but damn good chicken.

Never really been a big fan of fried chicken as it was too greasy and gave me an upset stomach, but if I'm by the area I'll give it a go.  I usually get a whole roasted chicken from Costco every now and again.

ps is turning into a mini-Momopi... I'm still trying to convince the family to head over to Placentia... grrr... stop making me leave my safe Irvine haven.

At least you didn't post a picture.

I'm getting bored with the lack of new model homes to tour and snap photos.  I'm moving on to food.  Don't want to take anything away from Momopi's posts, but I will focus my finds on hole-in-the-wall, unhealthy but delicious, mom-and-pop type restaurants/food.

IHO, didn't post a pic because I finished it all!  I'll try to post one next week for Chicken Box but pics don't do it justice.  It looks like plain fried chicken with a thin batter..  You'll have to bite into it to know the difference.  BTW, they have specials on Mondays (10 pcs for $12) and lunch specials on TuTh (2 pcs, 2 sides, soda for $4.37).

Just found out they have another location in West Covina...

And for those who don't want to venture outside of Irvine, the salt-and-pepper chicken wings at Buffalo Wild Wings is pretty tasty.  Get it extra well done (crispy) and on Tues it's only $0.55 each.  We usually get two dozen for two people.  Throw in some Habanero wings if you want an extra kick on your palette.  Here's what I do, keep the ratio of habanero to salt-and-pepper at about 1:3.  So we get 6 Habs and 18 S&Ps.  Always space yourself between the Habs, never do Habs in a row, it hurts.
