Pergola Trellis Covering

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Need some recomendation for covering the Wooden pergola trellis in the backyard. Has anyone done recently and if so how much it costs?

In covering, do you mean enclosing or do you mean putting some kind of covering on top so there is shade?

On my Trellis, I have vines running on top and on it and it helps with shading.

Thanks HS/TD.

Yes, I mean covering on Top, so there is shade to protect Sun/Rain.

How much it costed to install the vines? Also, how much effort it takes to maintain the vines?

I see many of the model homes that have trellises (trellisi?) instead of a California Room using a tarp-like material.

Probably something with SunGard, Google found this:

I would do something like that if we had a trellis too to not only help with shade but also when it rains (like one day a year).

I was looking to install tinted plexi-glass on mine.  It will provide weather cover, and it's tinted to still allow light but block most of the UV and stuff out.

Basically something like this but darker

Last quote I got for a 14' x 10 trellis was $7000.  Still shopping for a better price but started making me think I should have invested in the California room.  Live and learn.

Pergola's starting prices are around $20 - 25/ sq ft including installation for all wood.
I recommend against the aluminum pergola's if its attached to the home because its noisy when it rains.  It gets old fast..
