I went to Woodbury Medical Group last week. I have been a patient there for 6 years, not long after they first opened their doors. Love, love my doctor. Like the set-up of the office. It had been very convenient. Kept them after my move. It's still a quick drive from FR to Woodbury, a matter of minutes. But now things are changing. A 1.5 hour wait for "Urgent Care" walk-ins the last 2 times I went. I asked the nurse what's up with that. She said they're getting slammed due to all the new residents being added in the area. Can't keep up. They had all the rooms full in the back plus people in the waiting area plus patients who called ahead to reserve a spot waiting elsewhere. I see the quality declining at this office. Sad. I was only there for a blood-draw. Took longer than usual - and that's just to see a nurse, no doctor. I hope they can get a bigger facility or another similar type of Urgent Care / Med Group would be added for ALL these new homes soon. Who knows. I've hung with them through it all but this might be enough to find a new place. Now if Irvine residents have to look outside Irvine to do the same, that will really suck for them.

its only going to get worse with obamacare from what i read (too many patients, not enough doctors) - that is why those concierge doctor practices are taking off. its only a matter of time before they start popping up in irvine, if they havent already.

I have Kaiser.  The blood draw has its own station.  You can walk into many Kaiser facilities and get a draw done within 15 minutes.  No appointment necessary.

The key question here is have you done this at the *Irvine* Kaiser?

I also went to Wooodbury Medical Grp recently, not my primary doctor, just urgent care on a weekend. Got there when they first opened, was seen fairly quickly, but the waiting room was packed full when I walked out.  My wife use to call in maybe a few weeks prior and able to get in an appt.  Now we call 2-3 months ahead.  I think they have a fourth doctor now, forgot her name, really young looking though.

Another urgent care would be nice, as that's what's overloading them.  Plenty of medical space available in Irvine, just need more primary doctors who are willing to give up weekends :)

If you have something minor, the minute clinic at CVS is pretty good.  Not too much of a wait and you can fill your prescriptions right away.

do they have doctors/nurses there? or do you do something over the phone?

A few years back when I was looking for a new doctor in Irvine, I did hit one of those doctors on the list.  The receptionist asked in a snooty voice "you know how our system works right?".  Kind of how you (Well, I) get treated at Neiman Marcus.  :P

I believe they have PAs and NPs...cost of an exam is like $80 but lower if you have insurance (your co-pay).  They do lab tests and sports physicals as well.

Not really, most of the Health Exchange plans have a different and very limited network of doctors.  Some of the larger plans like Aetna have around 50% of the doctors that their corporate plans have.

i hope your right.

New Yorkers face overcrowding everywhere. Most are unfriendly waiting in line almost everywhere outside of their neighborhoods. The same group becomes very friendly in grocery stores, Starbucks, doctors office, and especially at Zabar. Once they get down into the subway their personality changes. I went to several doctors offices like the St Joseph Urgent Care near Irvine. The waiting among the FCBs was a miserable experience. They were rude and loud on their phone.
