Hmmm....I remember not tooo long ago the Democrats wanted to pass some sort of legislation to tax the evil George Bush Oil Companies...is this still happening?

:)

PS...I think Obama's Robin Hood program will go the way of the Windfall Tax

Yah what happened to this brain surgeon proposal?

May 1 (Bloomberg) -- Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's proposal for a windfall profits tax on oil companies could cost $15 billion a year at last year's profit levels, a campaign adviser said.

The plan would target profit from the biggest oil companies by taxing each barrel of oil costing more than $80, according to a fact sheet on the proposal. The tax would help pay for a $1,000 tax cut for working families, an expansion of the earned- income tax credit and assistance for people who can't afford their energy bills.

mmmmmm..not so much

The price of crude went from $150 a barrel to about $65.

There is not "there" there to tax.

This is already in place in Alaska and Palin keeps on boasting about it. This kind of "socialist redistribution of wealth" that you guys fear so much is reflected closer in the actions of the Republican platform. How about nationalizing banks? Isn't that a socialist move as well? This whole name calling is becoming ridiculous - just say what you really mean ... that you don't want to pay taxes and that you don't want to support entitlement programs.

Nationalizing banks...what's the better alternative? Oh right, letting people lose their bank accounts outright, have banks close shop, have loans go bad, and have financing cease to exist.

Been watching Mad Max lately?

BTW...it was both parties who "nationalized" the banks w/the TARP. I'm only bringing this Windfall Tax since it was a wonderful idea by the Democrats that well...was just big talk.

Mad Max ... really? This dystopia in the near future was a consequence of the US government not nationalizing banks? Now it makes total sense. And Master Blaster is the monstrous incarnation of Fannie and Freddie Mac. :P

Say anything to get elected then do whatever you want. Funny how change always seems to look the same

Have you seen the price drop in oil/gas? There is no point in the tax now. Of course, I thought it was kind of hokey to begin with. I am glad we are getting a Pres who will change as situations call for rather than a guy that never re-examines decisions he made.
