Got a weekday off from work tomorrow... anyone got recs for a good lunch place?  Ran out of options on yelp....

Maybe you can get IHO to take you out for that "blind date" you guys were going to have. Did you ever get to go on your Man Date?

no food truck, not kid friendly.. did try the burnt truck at the park, not bad...  maybe I'll try Mozza tomorrow.. but I doubt my daughter will like anything there.. for some reason she really likes the bland boiled tofu at SWSH with just a dash of soy sauce...

and no, never went on the man date... I'm gonna reserve that for a future time...

and the winner is...

My new favorite place lately is Mustard Cafe. I've only been to the one here in Foothill Ranch but I hear there is one off Alton in Irvine as well. (Some Yelpers say they like the FR location better of the two.)

Here is a link to their menu if you would like to drool over it:http://www.mustardcafeonline.com/menu/

I guess it's sort of a sandwich-y place but I think the food is so much better than, say, Corner Bakery or Panera. They do have a kids' menu if you would like to take your daughter. My husband and I are sort of picky when we try a new place in determining if we'll go back again or not but for both of us it was a yes right away.

Edited to add: I just tried their Irvine website and it doesn't exist anymore (the website, that is). I'm sure one of you people who get out more than I do would know whether the restaurant is still there or not. The Foothill Ranch one definitely is still there.

Had oshima's omakase today, 8 pieces chef's choice to start, sea bream, bluefin tuna (my fav), Japanese scallop, yellow tail, cherry salmon, white fish, sea bass, and black cod (flamed, our second fav).  Also tried blue crab hand roll, Scottish salmon (better than cherry salmon), and Neptune (clam?  Conch? crunchy too).  Fish cuts were generous and surprisingly the rice was really good, right consistency and warm.  They serve Tokyo style, meaning no soy sauce needed.  They brush on a light soy sauce already or sprinkle yuzu salt.  22 pieces between the two of us and a large Sapporo, came out to bout $100.  Decent price, was not hungry till dinner which is unique for omakase.
