OC DinDin-A-GoGo

Orange County is quickly becoming food truck country & it is fabulous! The latest thing on the scene is the OC DinDin-A-GoGo which is promising to ?revolutionize dinner one city at a time.?

Based on the wildly popular DinDin-A-GoGo that happens every Thursday evening at K1 Speed in Gardena (from 5:30-9pm), the OC version will be hosted by the Tropical Shave Ice Truck every Wednesday evening right here in Orange County, at K1 Speed in Irvine (from 5:30?9pm).

Each week the OC DinDin-A-GoGo will feature 2 -5 different trucks, in order to keep things ?fresh.? (Kinda of like the OC Foodie Fest, but on a much smaller scale & there are no admission fees, so you can spend that extra money on food!) So bring your lawn chairs & some cash (not all of the trucks accept credit cards), & don?t forget your blankets & sweatshirts, because we can guarantee you?ll want to make an evening of it. Finally everyone in your family will be able to have exactly what they want for dinner. With multiple food trucks on site, you can be sure that there will be something for everyone to love.

What: OC DinDin-A-GoGo
When: Wednesday Evenings, 5:30-9pm
Where: K1 Speed Irvine, 17221 Von Karman Ave., Irvine, CA 92614

This sounds very interesting. I never made it to the OC Foodie Fest at the Honda Center--anyone go to it?

I like the concept but just don't feel like standing in long lines for food.

We went on Wed night.  Got there around 6pm and stood in line until 7pm.  Didn't really get to start eating until 7:15-7:20pm.  We were totally starving by then... It is a fun concept but really doesn't work for me with the long lines.  Tried the Kogi, Lomo Arigato and Dos Chinos (we had different people standing at different trucks).  The Lomo Arigato line was reasonable (maybe a 10 min wait to order and another 10 min to get the food), but the Kogi and Dos Chinos lines were crazy.  The food was good but not so good that I would go back and wait in line for 1+ hour for the food.

Yeah... that's what turned me off from the Kogi trucks when they were doing Irvine stops. Sure, some people say the waiting in line is part of the experience as you get to meet and talk to other people, but it's not so hot when you have kids who want to eat "now".

I'll get out there one of these nights... maybe when the buzz goes down... so will the wait times... but then maybe they won't keep doing it if it doesn't stay crowded... catch 11+11.

I visited the Kogi truck twice when they were in Irvine and saw the line and said see you later.  Then i saw that they were going to be at Roger Dunn in Santa Ana and figured with all of the mexicans in the area the line would be short (since they would just stick with their mexican restaurants and not be wowed by something such as Kogi).  My guess was right and had my food within 10 minutes of parking.
