O.C. releases plan for Irvine condo, retail development in Great Park

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Alternative 1b has a food bank and a huge homeless shelter right on the edge of the great park.  Wonder if they'll be allowed to use the community pool.

Food bank and homeless shelter!

That would be a great scare tactic from the county over Irvine on this development, let us build what we want or else we'll build a homeless shelter.

I'm agree with the article, the biggest issue is the traffic.

Supervisor Todd Spitzer, who opposes the project, issued a statement last week detailing its proposed scope: nearly 1.9 million square feet of office space, 2,103 housing units, 220,000 feet of commercial space and a 242 room hotel ? all of which will add 35,000 to 47,000 average daily trips to the area, according to Spitzer.

Those added trips are the root of the brewing feud.

The added traffic would affect the adjacent freeways and a short portion of the Barranca, Alton and Sand Canyon leading to the freeway. The traffic really does not affect existing neighborhoods.

This is all about $$$. If the county builds a commercial center it will block future development options for the GP.
