Norman Woodlore vs Sunland

Heard from some vendors to stay away from Norman Woodlore (non wood) products as they are basically cardboard.  I saw the product, it looks decent, especially like the integrated rods within the side of the windows.  It is not like Sunland's clearview product where you can still see the rod on the back.  Does anyone know if Norman Woodlore are bad products?

Sunland makes polycore.
I think Norman only has wood and their non-wood is not polycore.  It is some sort of MDF, which I also heard is pretty crappy like particle board.  Whoever is selling will always say their stuff is the best.  Ask Sam78, I believe he purchased Norman Woodlore.

PenguinOrange and Sam78 have Norman shutters.

I've asked them about the shutters but have not gotten any answer yet. I am in process of getting shutters too. Please let me know if you find any information.

Honestly, we had wood shutters before they bend in 5-6 years specially if you want to open them at night, their paint peel as well, that is why wood shutter companies don't give life time or 25 years warranties. their warranties is for workmanship only.  This time we are exclusively looking for NON-wood shutters in hope to have less problem than before.

Problem(s) with Arvind, he does not have office and he does not have license... he wants to collect 30% deposit. It gets little bit tricky I think without license, physical location and even letter head...(after we pushed him he just gave us excel spread sheet with product specification).

We are still looking to find better info about the Norman shutters and sunland shutters...http://www.stevesblindsandwallpaper.comhas the online special for Norman shutters, you have to instal them though.

We installed Norman invisible rod shutters earlier this year and are satisfied with the product.  Prior to placing the order I contacted PenguinOrange, who had them done a year earlier, just to make sure there wasn't any problem.  He said he was happy with the shutters so I proceeded with the order.

We put $1,000 deposit (about 15% down).  I'll have to find Arvind's business card to see if there is any license information on it.

In our old home we used real wood shutters and had no problem with bending or paint in the 10 years that we've had them, even the ones that were on top of the bathtub.  We wanted to get real wood shutters again for the new home but unfortunately the vendor can't make the rod invisible.

So assuming white shutters, what is the advantage of having basswood vs polycore?  They apparently don't last as long and people are saying it bends over time?

I have Norman shutters now for about 2 months now roughly and I am satisfied with how they look and operate. Granted, it is only 2 months in, so, I am strictly speaking from a look and functional perspective. Wouldn't try to attest to their durability over the long-haul, but pleased so far.

Good thread. I'm about to pull the trigger on either of these products this weekend. Decision time!
