Non-dairy frozen treats

I've been wracking my brain trying to think of a shop in the area that either sells non-dairy frozen treats or sorbet. Can't think of anything but it seems like there should be. I believe sorbet is too expensive and that's why we don't see sorbet shops. Unfortunately, I've recently discovered I either have a pretty severe milk allergy or lactose-intolerance. I won't know which until I have some tests done. This is a new thing for me as I've had dairy my entire life. So, this rules out any ice cream or frozen yogurt places for me from now on. Sucks! But I'd like to think of a few places where that's not a concern and I can take my kids sometime. Ideas??

Also, most ice cream shops (Baskin's, ColdStone and Thrifty's) sells one or two flavors of sherbet.

Unfortunately, sherbet contains the D-word.

Iho, where is Confetti's?

Qwerty, thanks I'll check it out. I wonder why it doesn't show up on Google Maps.

Sorry... meant sorbet... not sherbet.

Or maybe I don't know the difference.

Confetti's is in Costa Mesa off of Baker I think.

If you're in Woodbridge, go to Sticky Fingers in the Woodbridge Town Center (near the Family Discount Theater). They have Hawaiian shaved ice, non-dairy as long as you don't add condensed milk, a snow cap, or ice cream.

Unfortunately, I read that the ice for shaved ice is made with milk, water, and a little bit of sugar. But I've never had one. Is it not true that shaved ice already has milk in it?

That's Taiwanese shaved ice.

Hawaiian shaved ice is pure ice (water) as far as I know but you can ask them when you are there. It looks clear... so should be dairy free.

Try watermelon/peach/cherry combo (just make sure none of the syrups have dairy). :)

7/11 coke slurpee, I would pay top dollar for one right now

YES!  I used to be so addicted to these... then I quit soda.  I still crave slurpees from time to time.  Good thing there's not a drive through 7/11 around here or else I would be in trouble.

They carry Coke slushees at Target, too, along with a few other flavors.

Went to Sticky Fingers and ordered up the "Iho Special" for my first ever shaved ice. Good choice, Iho. Thanks for the tip! I like what you picked out.

Really nice fella that works there. He gave me a tour of all the toppings and everything. I took this with his express permission. Really neat to see the wheel of ice spin and get shaved.

My kid got the mayonnaise.

I'm an American so I've only eaten Snow Cones growing up. When I was a kid, I even had the Snoopy Snow Cone Machine so I could sit on the sidewalk and churn them out for my friends.

Shaved ice is better. It's soft, not like a hard mouthful of ice. Those Hawaiians are on to something. I think my kids like it because it's similar to a slurpee, which they love. Although my oldest didn't care so much for the tartar sauce. He would go without that next time.

One day I'll try Boba.  :)

That guy has been there for years.

They also serve Thrifty ice cream.

I haven't been there since last summer and now with these hot days you are making me want to go there.

Yup, you were right. I asked that nice man who works there, what's in the ice. He said just water. Yep, didn't make me sick(er).

Do you usually put any of the toppings on yours? I wanted to take it easy because I'm still sick from accidentally putting real milk instead of almond milk in my cereal yesterday, so I didn't put anything on the Iho Special. Maybe sometime I will try the mochi. I never had it before. He showed it to me and shook it around the box. Meh. It's not like anything I've seen before.

You tried lactaid?  or is it a real allergy?  I hear people lose their ability to digest milk sugar as we age, don't quote me on it, as I'm quoting someone else.  Personally, I use to down glasses of whole milk as a chubby kid.  Now I can drink no more than 8 ounces or its:
