Anyone interested in getting the new Nexus 7?

It should be out by the end of the month. It will have an upgraded screen, processor, latest version of Android, rear and front cameras, NFC, 802.11N, and BlueTooth4.0. LTE model should come out later. Still missing SD expansion slot. Will have 16 or 32 Gig internal memory.

I'm still puzzled by the omission of the SD card slot.

Google should know that that is large differentiation between their Android products and iOS devices.

I believe the official explanation is security but the whole idea isn't just about adding more memory, it's also about being able to switch out SD cards, sideloading and sharing. I realize they want to force everyone to the "cloud", but there are privacy issues with that and until WiFi is ubiquitous and wireless companies stop capping data, that's not a value proposition.

But 1080p resolution on that thing makes me drool. I honk for pixel density.

I think Google's omission of expandable memory is all about the Cloud.

I'm hoping rumors are wrong and we still see a Retina Mini later this year.

Do you feel that their Motorola offerings will not be superior to the Nexus?

Their last quarterly earnings is showing Motorola hemorrhaging money.  They have to do something soon with it....

It will be interesting to see how the MotoX does. Google is willing to pony up half a billion dollars for marketing to try and catch up with Apple and Samsung. Haven't read too much about their tablets yet.

There is definitely some desire to go toward cloud computing but I have also heard that memory cards can cause problems.

I'm pretty happy with my B&N Nook HD+, it's pretty close to the nexus 7 in specs, but has a microSD slot.
