Need new doors, got a HOA notice to replace some cracked panels.  Door is going on 16 years so maybe easier to just get a new one.  I read its hard to color match 1 panel and don't want to get cited again.  Anyone got recs?  I dug up an old post by Coleman for

Avaunt Garage Doors

They got good reviews, local, and seem decent.  Called and left a message and awaiting their response.

Ok gonna get my new door thru Avaunt, Morgan stopped by and gave his recommendation and quote.  I'm getting a Wayne-Dalton 8300 series door with a R value of 12:

OTD price is $975, which includes the $100 yelp discount (just mention you found him thru yelp).  So far pretty smooth, showed up on time for the quote/assessment and accommodating with install date.  My garage gets a good blast of afternoon sun and Morgan said this new door will be night and day with controlling heat in the garage, especially in the summer.

He has perfect 5 star reviews on yelp and even the shady yelps are perfect 5 stars.  Hopefully I won't be the first non-5 star :)

Thanks again to Coleman for the rec, not sure if he still checks TI.

How about the loft?  ;)

Ok, got my new door.  Everything went smoothly, except the new door leaves a pretty significant gap on the bottom when closed.  New door is almost half the thickness of the old door.  So when it closes it doesn't settle the same as the old door.  Avaunt proposes going with a larger thicker bottom seal so it can puddle better.  I'm worried about vermin sliding underneath so I asked them to get the bigger seal.  Came back in about a week, new seal does reduce the gap but not all the way.  I'm ok with it.  Only see a light gap as you walk up to it.  Looks like my garage floor is not very level.  I think even the old door had some light leakage but didn't really notice.  Much more quiet than the old door.  Will know in the summer if the higher insulation helps.

I would recommend these guys, Morgan is the main dude.  Jeremy installed the door and Morgan came back to tune up/fix the seal.  Easy communication, didn't charge extra for the bigger seal.  Thumbs up.
