Anyone else ordering the new DJI Mavic?

Looks incredible, and so portable too... I already have the Phantom 4, but can't resist just how portable this one is. The size of a water bottle, 27 mins of flight time, ergonomic and foldable.

Cons would be: low bitrate like other drones, vertical angle of camera is very limited - not sure if you can shoot top down shots with it? I am guessing yes on that one??

Any thoughts or feedback?

I'm on the fence with this vs the GoPro Karma.  The obvious cons of the Gopro Karma are the software limitations (not nearly as user-friendly as DJI drones) and it being not as portable.

However, I'm a HUGE fan of modular systems, one that GoPro IMHO has nailed with the drone/camera/stabilizer/backpack/accessories combo.  You can always switch out the camera for the latest and greatest whereas DJI does not upgrade their cameras regularly.

I'm waiting for more reviews regarding software comparisons, and I'm hoping GoPro smartens up and boosts their software capabilities to compete with the DJI drones.

In short, I'd buy gopro for their modular-ability, DJI for software capabilities + portability

If I was going to buy one today, the "follow me" feature of the Mavic makes it the clear choice IMO.  Even without it, I might still go with the Mavic, but it would be a touch choice.  I don't already have a gopro camera, which would also be a factor.

@Aquabliss: haha!

DJI is definitely the best company overall when it comes to drones though. I think they are way ahead of Go Pro's Karma. Way better portability, better battery life, more nimble, farther flying radius, etc.

There is no question that the Mavic is a better drone than the Karma - but maybe the Karma will catch up with DJI with their next model.

I think the only plus side to the Karma is the ability to swap out the GoPro cam.
