In the article the woman mentions that a real estate agent told them to wait for a better offer for their home......and then the woman chases the market down and ends up with a short sale. This is a perfect example of a very important, and painful lesson:

Never, and I mean never, trust a real estate agent.

If you hire one to help broker a property, you need to do you own research and make your own decisions. Real estate "professionals" are not capable of judging a market trends or giving you comps for a property. All they are they are skilled at is calming sellers and buyers down until the deal gets done.

Unfortunately, this costly and painful lesson will be learned over and over again as the real estate bubble bursts.

I learned that lesson a while back. My agent was telling me that everybody was giving their agents 6% in fees, I quickly found out it was 1-3% in the commercial world. I quickly fired her and got another of her coworkers in there. Her "fees" amounted to 96,000, the other agent was more, ALOT more for pretty much the same work. Anyways keep it safe and as they say, knowledge is POWER!

good luck

Ah, that article filled me with delight. I didn't even really need to read the article after looking at the picture of the blonde "OC Mom" with the giant sunglasses.

Idiots. "No thanks, 750k is too low for only one year of homeownership,"

They deserve everything that happens to them.

Very informaive article - worth taking notes!

NOTE TO SELF: WHEN FLIPPING HOUSE DURING NEXT BUBBLE:

1) Do NOT buy house in area you don't like, in case you get stuck there!

2) Do NOT rely solely on RE agent for advice on when to sell.

3) Do NOT get a mortgage that may reset into terms I can't afford.

Feeling smarter already...
