Need Java developers

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
We need a programmer here at my work too (not a Java developer). I have 15 years of Visual Basic experience but have never worked as a full-time programmer. What is the salary range you offer for java developers?

Since I'm not the hiring manager, I do not know the answer to that question.  But we are pretty flexible and will consider remote workers -- we have one developer who works in Denver out of his home.

As a Java shop we use stuff like Jenkins, Git, etc. in binary opposition to Microsoft products like .NET.  You can bring your Mac and nerf guns to work.  We get Costco deliveries of snacks/drinks and fresh fruits from some hippie fruit company.  Hours are also somewhat flexible, benefits provided if you worked at least 30 hours/week.  3 weeks paid vacation.

working remotely would be awesome.  Accept the job, hire someone in India to do your work... Profit!!Rinse and repeat!

Lol. Doesn't work that way. If the company found you did that you'd get canned. Generally they find out.

Now if you want to actually do that you can start your own IT project management company that lets customers know that you are doing that. It's not nearly as easy / profitable as it seems.

Hey... I'm thinking outside of the box  :P

It's not a bad idea. An old roommate of mine had a web development business in the 90s and 2000s with a programmer in Hungary that he paid $300/mo. He never got rich because he didn't build it to scale but he didn't work much and got to work on his own projects and goof off a lot.

Now it's a lot harder to start such a business in my opinion because there is a lot of competition and the pay for programmers in other countries has skyrocketed. If you know what you're doing it's probably easier to be successful in this space than opening a restaurant.

service business where your labor is your money maker is incredibly hard to scale - cant really.

My Brother has been a full-time programmer for 20 years and could be interested in working remotely (though he is presently employed). I don't know if you have a way to PM a link to a job description or something for me to send to him.

If he is a skilled Java programmer, please feel free to forward his resume to me and I will give it to the hiring manager.  We are flexible with our openings and will accept skilled java programmer fresh out of college, to senior lead developer with years of experience.

We're fairly tolerant with stuff like tattoos, piercings, dress, etc.  You can work sitting down, standing up (standing desk), wear sandals, whatever.  My jeans have decorative holes in it.  However we are not tolerant with rudeness and profanities.

I don't think he's interested in Java. In addition to his job he's one of the lead developers for this open source software:http://knockoutjs.com/but I think Javascript is quite different from Java.
My wife has considered taking programming classes. She already has her masters in an unrelated field, but you mentioning straight out of college made me think. What education would you recommend for her if she's interested in a "straight out college" job in programming?

We love open source project developers!  Please ask your friend if he might be interested, or if he knows anyone who might be interested!

If your wife wants to pursue a career as a developer, here's an idea for her to stand out:  the number of female developers contributing to open source projects are few, if she can join one and have her contributions documented, that would look great on her resume!

"Software developer fired after bosses learn he outsourced his work to China and spent ALL DAY surfing the web":
    Article

That must be how some TI members manage to be online practically 24/7.

    - Began day by looking at cat videos and Reddit for two hours
    - Took 90-minute lunch breaks
    - Also wasted time on eBay, Facebook and LinkedIn
    - Paid Chinese consulting firm $50,000 to do his work for him
    - Was praised for being 'the best developer in the building' and was described as 'Someone you wouldn?t look at twice in an elevator'
