The new owners who bought out Black Sheep Bistro in Tustin opened recently. The original layout of the restaurant is retained, but given a nice update, with lots of paintings (for sale) on the wall. The new owners (Jean & her husband) are just as friendly as Rick & Diane, they came around to the tables and chatted with us, making sure that everything is OK.
The bread is like sourdough with herbs, I recommend giving it a good spread of the sun-dried tomato butter on top to balance the flavor.
Chipotle ranch dressing has a nice little kick to it.
Short rib grilled cheese sandwich with horseradish cheddar, short rib meat, caramelized onions, and au jus on the side. The slow braised boneless short ribs used is very tender and delicious. The au jus is a bit heavy/salty so I recommend not using too much of it, otherwise it'd smother the short rib's flavor.
Mac and cheese with bacon. I thought the bacon was a bit over-done and hard. This is the small side dish order size that came with the meal. It's very rich & hearty, so be careful if you order the "family size serving"!
BLT pasta! Bacon, leeks, tomatoes, and bread crumbs with a garlic wine sauce. <--- that's what the menu said
What it actually tastes like: delicious light flavored pasta with olive oil, tomato, and garlic with a generous sprinkling of bacon bits on top. This is a very good dish!
$20?! I had to adjust my cell phone camera for a second look. This was a lot cheaper than I thought it'd be, plus we had so much leftovers (2 boxes). You get a lot of honest & good food for your money here.
