Okay... so I've always wanted to go here because they used to have one in Irvine off of Alton and Jeffrey (where El Cholo currently is). I tried to go there once but they closed early because it was Thanksgiving. It didn't help that recently I saw a Food Network special on it so it made me more curious.
We were initially going to Portillo's in Buena Park but we decided that we should finally cross Mrs. Knott's off my bucket list. I think the last time I was even close to Knott's Berry Farm was back in my college days for a Halloween Haunt (back when the "ghouls" were allowed to touch you).

So we got there around 3pm so no wait... but like the Yelp reviews say... service is pretty slow.
They have very little options, you basically pay $16.90 for an all inclusive meal (except drinks) that has soup (Creamy Chicken Noodle... pretty good), a mixed salad, an entree, a side of corn or cabbage w/ham and a dessert (pie, ice cream or sherbert). The choices for your entree is the original fried chicken and other things like chicken fried steak, chicken pot pie, chicken and biscuits... basically southern comfort food.
They have kids meals that are around $7 or $8 that includes a drink, strawberry jello, an entree (chicken fingers, mac&cheese, cheesburger and something else) and ice cream.
The food isn't anything spectacular... and the ambiance is basically farmhouse never-been-updated couture. The biscuits are good... and the peach pie was excellent, but their entrees are probably worse than what you can get at Marie Callendar's or even Hometown Buffet.
It was a good thing we got there early, because by the time we left (around 5pm... service was slow as I said)... there was a long line to get in (why?).
Based on our visit, I can understand why the Irvine one didn't stay open... supposedly opened in '91 and closed a few years later.
But at least I can finally say I tried it... but I do wish there was a fried chicken place in Irvine (not KFC or BBQ in DJ).
