Hi,

My wife and I will be moving to or near irvine this summer. We are going to be in irvine for 2 days next week and were hoping you might be able to help us with a few questions. We are planning on looking at some neighborhoods to potentially move into. More than likley we will be looking for 2-3 bedrooms townhouse/condo/house to either rent or buy as we don?t know how long we will be in the area.

We would like to be close to UCI or UCI medical center, a relatively new/modern negighborhood that is farily close to shopping centers/malls. We are both working professionals, due plan on having children very soon. I am still in training to be a physician so our mortgage or rent will be limited.

1.) WHAT AREAS WOULD YOU RECOMMEND TO LOOK AT?

2.) ANY REC?S ON NICE RESTAURANTS IN IRVINE/OC, EITHER IN IRIVNE OR ON THE BEACH?

3.) WHAT/WHERE WOULD YOU RECOMMEND GOING TO GET A FEEL OF THE SOCIAL SCENE OF IRVINE/OC?

4.) ANY REC?S ON WHERE TO GO TO EXPERIENCE THE NIGHT LIFE OF IRVINE/OC?

Thank you

You may want to contact a couple of the Realtors who post here and have had positive results in todays market to aid you in your search. Two days is a short time to compile a lot of information on your own.

Good luck.

Hmmm...for nightlife in Irvine you have a wide variety of options. You can catch dinner and a movie at the District, or you can catch dinner and a movie at the Marketplace. Or for the really adventurous, you can have dinner and go bowling at the District. And to live truly on the edge, there's always the comedy club at the Spectrum.

As for your plans to "rent or buy" since you're not sure yet how long you'll be here - please tell us you're kidding? Why on earth would you even spend two seconds considering buying a place right now, given your circumstances especially?

Please refer to the snark that can be found in this comment.

UCI and UCI MC are far, far apart!

the MC is up in Orange near Anaheim/Angels stadium, the block at orange, etc. there are a number of new condos that were converted to rentals up there.

but it is a 30 minute drive from there down to the main UCI campus. There is lots of info here about this area.

You really need to check out the two areas and decide on one area to live in.

Of course, I highly recommend that you rent in either area.

just ask if you have more questions
