Mother's Day is this coming Sunday but I'm sure you already know that because your wives won't let you forget. For those who have plans around town, what are your plans?

I personally think that Mother's Day is the BEST day of the year to take advantage of places that offer "boy stuff" because it is always the LEAST crowded -- BY FAR! I can't stand crowds and avoid them at all costs. You might have a 2.5-3 hour wait at Mimi's Cafe. But no wait at K1 Speed racing. Or laser tag. Or any number of other things. In fact, you could probably do several of those things in the same day. The best part is the kids have fun. After church I hope to find some good, dirty Mexican at some place I haven't tried before and then go have fun.

Is it really a negative? Hmm. Well, let me go announce to my husband that Qwerty is the dirty Mexican I want for my special day and I'll let you know what he says.  :P

It was a 2 hour wait for Agora yesterday so I promised her we would go today.

It was okay... I guess I'm not really a Churrascaria person.

The cheese ball alone is worth going.

Not a fan of these Brazilian places, always over eat and go vegetarian for 3 days afterwards.  OCD and buffets don't mix well.

We ended up in Mission SJC area.  Went to mass at Basilica then the tapas bar near the train station.  It was ok, waited over an hour and didn't get 4 of our larger dishes.  They were overwhelmed and the kitchen was a mess (I had a direct view of the ticket order station).  It seems like every family is out with their moms in this area.  Even the hole in the wall marine flag coffee place behind the train tracks had a line out the door.  Nothing like drinking sub par coffee and smelling the petting zoo nearby.  Umami!

Gonna take Socal's advice next year and go somewhere more dad'ish to avoid the crowds.

Paris, Bones, R2D, and any other mommies I may be forgetting -- I hope you all had a nice Mother's Day. I had a fun weekend.

^ This post was last year. Did you try my dad'ish strategy? How'd it go?
