I've been here a couple of times. It's ok. I think I liked the arepas, but not the Venezuelan hot dog special. They had a dessert that was really good, can't remember what it was called. (Wow, what a helpful post this is.) In any case, it's fun trying new foods and cuisines so I'd recommend giving it a try.

went here for lunch today.  i had one mechada arepa, a cachapa with white cheese, and a pabellon empanada.  At the table they have a bucket with the silverware, straws and napkins.  Overall i would give the food an 8.  The shredded beef in the arepa was ok, a little on bland side, the corn bread is dense and also a bit bland, but it was nothing the dark green pepper sauce could not take care of.  The empanada had shredded beef inside with sweet plantains, this was actually really good. The pancake with the cheese and cream was also very good. My wife sampled two different arepas and liked them, but loved her mango juice.  They have two green sauces at every table, a light green which is avocados with parsley and cilantro and a dark green that is made from various hot peppers, the dark green was much tastier.  They have some pics of some people who must be famous over the cash register, the only one i could recognize was manny ramirez.

One thing i thought was interesting is that of the four other tables with customers, 3 of the four were asian!, couldnt even escape them in santa ana  :)

would definitely recommend everyone to give it a shot though. good recommendation Kalbi.

Had jury duty today, took the opportunity to try out this place since it was a short walk from the Santa Ana courthouse.  Had the mechada arepa special with salad and house iced tea.  Salad was pretty mediocre, iced tea was decent, tasted like Lipton iced tea.  Arepa was really good, especially with the two green sauce.  Reminded me of Taiwanese 'gua bao'.  Recommended, even after all these years!  ;D
