Mexican People Try Taco Bell for the First Time

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
the beefy fritos burrito is one of my favorite taco bell items, along with the beefy cheddar crunchwrap slider.  those were fake mexicans :-)

...I grew up eating Chinese restaurant leftovers, hospital cafeteria leftovers, and Panda Express leftovers, depending on where my parents worked, managed, or owned.  It was one of the factors that pushed me to learn how to cook for myself.  Back when I was in 6th grade I was out fishing after school almost daily and cooking cornmeal pan fried trout/panfish & cornmeal bread.  Cornmeal was really cheap back then and it can be used for both fish bait and cooking.  Wish I had known tortillas made good catfish bait back then.

I've meet the owners of Panda and the impression is that the wife is the driving force behind their expansion.  They paid taco bell level wages but had superior health benefit package.  At the time I was paying over $700/mo for my father' health insurance, and if mom didn't get a job at Panda Express with their great insurance package, I probably wouldn't have been able to afford my first condo in Irvine.  The management at Panda heavily promoted "7 habits of high effective people".

Taco Bell's food quality is suspect, but I read that they were one of few chain stores that promoted store managers to multi-store manager quickly.  So if you do a good job, they'd give you 2 stores to manage.  But if anyone is actually looking for a job, I'd suggest Trader Joes instead.  Better pay and very good benefits.

I would say one of the major problems is the vinegar used in American Chinese restaurant. It tastes really bad.

sounds like you work at trader joes?

Nope, never worked at Trader Joe's, but did interview a store manager and staff for my MBA paper.  They had great benefits and contribute additional 15.4% of your gross income to your retirement fund.  That is, if you made $50,000, they paid you additional $7700 to your retirement fund -- no matching 401(k)  contribution required.  If you're young and mobile, Trader Joes may be a great company to work for.

Capital Group in Irvine also comes close at 15% gross pay contribution to retirement fund.  The retirement benefits of these two companies put most others to shame.  Utilities used to offer great retirement packages too, but LADWP reduced retirement benefits for new hires starting 2015.

Being given a larger chunk of money for mutual funds is good, but it's still pushing market risk on to the employees.  Very difficult to get a job with good pension these days.  If you're willing to take the risk, you can try self-directed IRA to put your retirement funds into real estate -- be warned that if you screw up, there will be heavy financial penalty.
