Master Bath - Bianco Carrera Marble

The design center is charging around $4800 for the bianco carrera marble on the countertops of both sinks and the tub deck. We have a plan 2 at Las Ventanas.

1) Are there any advantages of going with the design center vs. outside contractor for countertops?
2) The standard backsplash is 6" tall. This seems really tall in pictures. What do you think?
3) Around how much would it cost me to do this through an outside contractor?

2K is a good chunk of change but to me it is not worth it, not worth the potential headache. i would want to close and move in.  chances are the work the outside contractor would do is probably good but you could be the lucky one who has the horror story and then you will be kicking yourself in the butt.
