Flat Cut Chicken Kabob plate with grilled tomato

I have to admit, not a big fan of "Mediterranean" food.  Not sure why they call it that anyways, just call it what it is, Middle Eastern.  Tried Caspian, kinda meh, pricey for just grilled cheap meats.  When I was in West LA, use to order Javan with co-workers, again, not that impressed.  Tried Luna Grill a couple weeks ago after seeing a MOD Pizza employee order it for their lunch.  :)

Highly recommend the flat cut chicken kabob.  Lemony, grilly, tender chicken pieces with perfectly cooked rice, pita bread with that weird dippy cucumber sauce.  I'm in love.  I love food that I can just spoon/shove into my mouth and this over qualifies.  Best of all, my kid likes it, and she is one  picky eater.

FYI, Tuesday after 4pm, kids eat free.  Order entree for me and get a $6 kids meal free!

I went to the LG at the Spectrum and it was horrible.  Sad excuse for a Falafel.  I wouldn't go back to this place.  On the same level as Daphne's and Blue Taverna.  Not good.  Best Falafel I had out here was at the America Cafe in Tustin.  Not crazy about a hook alounge, but its good!!!

I finally tried the flat cut chicken. So. Good.

I guess since ps9 also like Versailles/Bella Cuba, it would make sense that I would like this dish too.

It's pricey at $11.50 but it's the best thing there.

Today kids eat free, also coupon for B1G1 entree coupon in the retail/restaurant book iPac hands out at new home sales trailer.  Flat cut is the way to go, too bad the kids meal don't have the flat cut option.  Usually have a good meal to go with enough kid leftovers for lunch tomorrow.  They also keep track of your order when you come in, one time they asked if we wanted "our usual".

Do any of the other Mediterranean places have something similar to Luna's flat cut chicken? Hen House Grill? OZ Grill (used to be Chicken Dijon)?

Luna has the strongest citrus taste of all the kabboberies I tried.  Plus they usually cook it perfect, sometimes a bit too well done.  Had "pink" chicken at numerous Mediterranean restaurants and that always turn my stomach, and it's table flipping time!

Hen House is too authentic for us.  What do you do with the raw onion that comes with the food?  And that weird seasoning packet?  Never tried Chicken Dijon, but heard it was good, that's near Bella Cuba no?

It's called OZ Grill now, it's the one in the 99 Ranch center off of Culver and Irvine Center Drive, near where Baskins and Panda are.

Never been in there.

I remember the old food court in the Spectrum (McDonald's, Rubio's) had a place called Charlie's Kabobs that was pretty good but that was long ago.

That place looks good, I hope the chicken kabob is like the flat cut chicken at Luna.

Too bad no kids meals.

I think every restaurant should have a kids menu (that includes the drink).

Now you have me Yelping for Mediterranean chicken places.

Have you tried Garbanzos in Woodbury Town Center? They say it's like the Chipotle of Medi foods.

Haven't tried Garbanzo, there's a coup at woodburyoffers.com I believe.  There's also a new place in Lake Forest area that popped up on my yelp radar:  Shiva or Sherpa or something

Chicken Maison is by far the best Mediterranean food we have enjoyed in Orange County. Four locations are based out of the South Bay and the closest location is in Santa Ana. We asked the owner if he would consider opening a restaurant in Irvine and it didn't seem likely at the time. For now, we will keep making the drive up the 405 and call ahead for our order. The food is definitely worth it, but the people of Irvine would support this place every night they are open.

We aren't impressed by Garbanzo in Woodbury, but will give Luna a try...although it seems a little pricey.

Go here:http://www.yelp.com/biz/naan-and-kabob-tustin-2

Order the combo with 2 skewers, 1 chicken and 1 beef koubideh.  Ask for  Mast-o-Musir (Yogurt & Shallots) sauce.

When I ordered catering from this place at my previous workplace, the meat trays are always cleaned out quickly.  Be warned that if you order catering, they tend to give you too much rice, so just ask for less, and remember that salad cost extra so skip it to save $.

Looks like Luna Grill has altered their menu, especially the kid's meal:

smaller portion
does not come with a drink anymore
the chicken is no longer whole pieces but cut up/shredded

They said the previous kid's meal was too big and adults were ordering it.  So they had to make the adjustment.  The adult entree size looks ok, seems like less rice with the new takeout containers.  Oh well, all good things come to an end.  At least the tuesday Buy one adult entree get one free kid's entree is still being honored.

Heh... I was going to post this too.

Went here last weekend and noticed the menu change.

They also took the Beef Sirloin off the kids menu, now my kid orders the adult's Beef Kabob... at twice the cost and no drink... great.
