With so many horror stories on the news and Internets desperate homeowners are becoming the victims of scams and false promises.

I have heard many times on the radio talk show about Feldman Law Center in Mission Viejo. The Better Business Bureau also gave this company a "D" rating. Beware for homeowners seeking legal assistance from Steven Craig Feldman and other "experts" such as the ex-mortgage cons now turning Loan Mod tricks.

There are many homeowners on this forum and would you share your Loan Modification experience? OC was the sub-prime capitol and now a Loan Mod scam capitol.

With so many scams out there the only reliable source is from IHB referrals.

We should start a list of professionals who made a positive service experience for IHB members.

Zovall,

Can you form a "grapevine" list? I think this would be a huge resource for members seeking various unsolicited services.

It is a good idea to always check out a business before using them. Use Better Business Bureau website to review complaints and verify a company is in good standing. BBB has recently added a feature where the consumer can leave feedback so that is helpful also.

Here's an interesting tangent. My friend has been looking for a job since passing the Bar over a year ago. 3 months ago, he starting working for a loan modification service. After two days of work, he asked my wife (she works for big law) since he felt the business was a little shady. My wife did some digging and discovered that the business practices used is not ethical and he could very likely be disbarred. He quit the job after a week of work and contacted the BBB. Luckily, he now works for a small personal bankruptcy firm doing chapter 7 &13; filings and works only 1 mile from his mom's house...I guess bankruptcy is just a sign of the times.

I'll try to get the name of the company. Essentially, they needed lawyers to complete a portion of the loan modification process, but their compensation system was analogous with ambulance-chasers.

The one that Mr. Mortgage recommends is Green Credit Solutions at www.getgreencredit.com
