I just checked out the model home at quinterra. I noticed artificial grass in the backyard. Is that a good idea, instead of real grass? It will be cheaper - don't have to water or hire a gardner. I was invisioning in the backyard small brick or concrete, and then place artificial grass on the other side.

Depends on what you plan on doing.  My neighbor has this...

Pros:

1. never needs to be cut
2. never needs water
3. always looks great

Cons:

1. doesn't look real when placed near real grass
2. will retain odors when animals do their deed
3. gives you carpet burn

I'm going to get regular grass.

I actually like fake grass.

Seen a few open houses with it.

One guy had a small strip on the side... and a small dog. He said the dog does his duty there and then it would drain to the street (or he would hose it down). Not sure if that's legal but I guess it's bio waste.
