Landscape Designer/Contractor - very frustrated

<p> I never thought it would be so difficult to find a landscape designer and/or contractor (for my front and back). I am in desperate need for referrals (too much of a gamble to call someone from the numerous flyers and business cards that we receive in the mail or that are left on the door). Hopefully, I won’t get flamed for this post, but I’m honestly stuck. The few people/companies I’ve contacted are either totally flakey (cannot return a friggin phone call), cannot show me photos of their past work and cannot give any guidance (i.e., “what is it that you want?”). </p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Does anyone know of a good landscape designer they could recommend? Someone who is reliable and does good work? I’ve heard that the designer and contractor should not be the same company as there could be a conflict of interest. Anyway, our lot is about 5700 square feet and the house is 2800 square feet. We want to do an “outdoor living room” with stone on the floor, a built in BBQ which is attached to a large island that seats at least 4, a dual sided fireplace and some sort of water feature….</p>

Have you toured any new homes around your area? If you like their work, I would speak to the superintendent on-site and ask him for information on who their landscaper is. Most superintendents will have a list of vendors ranking them from Excellent & pricey to Cheap & cheap.





I apologize for not having any referrals for you.
 
Our old neighbour owned a mid-size landscaping company and does great work. He did both the hardscape and softscape. I don't know where you are located but he mostly services Irvine and Newport Coast. Here is the webpage, talk to Abdul - http://www.gclandscape.com/
