Saw this last time I came to buy lotto tickets at the Viet liquor store.  Pretty decent yelp reviews...decided to try it out tonight.  Been hesitant on trying out new Korean cuisine since the Dongbu fish disaster..

Walking in, it was a bit muggy and reminded me of my Korean dorm mates room smell in college..but as with all smells, quickly adapted to it.  Only one other table when we got there at 6.  Small mom/pop type restaurant.  Not sure what was here before.

Lunch seems like a good value, bit confusing with the steamed pork...

There specialty, pork bone potato soup.  It's a bit spicy, taste is rather mild compared to other Korean soups.  Meat falls off the bone, potatoes were filling, and cabbage was a nice contrast.  They provide a watery mustard dipping sauce for the pork.  Broth itself is rather bland, needs a pinch of salt.

Short ribs...pretty good compared to other Irvine Korean bbqs.. Meat was a decent cut, not fatty, and the marinade finishes a bit sweet, delicious.  Of course it made the pork bone taste bland.

Want to come back to try the squid and octopus dishes...and also the spicy tofu soup.  Restaurant filled up as we got up to leave, mostly Korean patrons.  Not many mom and pop restaurants like this in Irvine.
