I came across this Youtube video recently and found it very interesting:

I then had to look up and reread this thread from many years ago:

A glimpse of my life experience.

6 acres of land with 36,000 residents this was the Kowloon walled city experience that I will never forget. This is 600 people living in each Cal Pac's detached condo. 4 foot deep Metal cages from floor to ceiling were bolted to the exterior like balconies for renting to old men...

That's why he hates my love for 3CWG... so much wasted space... you could fit a city in there!

Been there a few times like most of us probably. Some parts are nicer than others. The closer you get to the bay/Harbour the nicer things were (shopping/housing/density), but yes further inland felt dirty and cramped. I only went deeper inland a couple times to try out some food spots. Amazing Dim Sum for around $3 per order (5-7 pieces). I was so stuffed and only paid like $15

Best restaurant I went to in HK was Sevva - incredible views
