Has anyone taken any courses just for fun? One of my favorite passtimes on the web is to browse IVC's course catalog and Career Technical Education programs. I think it would be fun to try completely different things. I am thinking about signing up for their Electronic Technology program since it is so different from anything I've studied in the past. (Plus, having a built-in personal tutor / expert wouldn't hurt if I get stuck.) I think it would also be fun to take their Real Estate Appraiser courses just for fun. The Technical Writing online program also sounds awesome. It looks like they have completely revamped their website recently. A lot more stuff has been added and it looks like some has vanished. I think it would be fun learning a lot of new things. I am a curious person by nature. If I had the time, I would probably do every program.

Back in the days when I wasn't old I took some psych classes for fun.  I had to purchase a book written by the instructor about enneagrams.  I had all sorts of fun exterimenting on my friends from my new found knowledge :) 
Lately I've been thinking about taking a class in geology or Spanish.

I say go for it.  Take classes that you don't know anything about. 
Real estate appraiser can come in handy especially in Irvine!
But learning something you don't know anything about might give you a new perspective in things.
 
I finally made up my mind after thinking about it for a couple years (lol) and went to register for the real estate appraisal courses... only to find out they've been yanked. D'oh! Of course.  ::)
 
My daughter will attend IVC for the the summer. The grades will all be transferrable to the current private university. IVC is super cheap comparatively.

Would have been even cheaper to attend IVC for 2 years and then transfer instead.  With the money saved, you could have put a down payment on home for her in Ellwood in Beacon Park using your employee discount.

Sorry USC, UCs or Cal States are about the only possibilities. rarely a top private college accept IVC transferees. My daughter is not interest in mid or upper management duties with a good bonus and a steady paycheck and reside in some master planned bubble. Her fulfillment in life is too different from most Asian kids.

After undergrad, I took some IVC night classes and online classes because I like learning. They were of varying quality--really depends on the instructor. I found that instructors whose day job was something in the field were generally the most interesting (e.g. a CPA partner at a local accounting firm who taught accounting in the evening) because (1) they could make the book material relevant to the real world and (2) they taught due to passion, not for a paycheck.
 
Admission at USC is very selective on Freshmen admission. This is the data both US News and Forbes collect for their rating system. USC knows the system very well. HOWEVER, USC also accept rich transfer retards from community colleges matching the size of the Freshmen class. The college rating sites don't consider transferees data and USC found a loop hole catering to the dumb kids with rich parents. USC also lists the Nobel Prize faculty except they are part time and the Nobel Prize was awarded while the faculty tenured at another college and not a product of USC.

My drinking buddy was the USC finance director.
