Irvine water quality? Hair Advice?

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program

It seems to have an effect on my skin and hair.. my hair gets rough and it's hard to manage.

Also, my tub has some type of orange residue build up. I would also attribute that to the water, but can't explain why.

Everywhere else I go (nor cal or out of state) I don't have that problem.

Do you live in Woodbridge? Could it be the TCE in the groundwater?

Everybody in Orange County gets the same water from the same source.

Your problem is the water is "hard". I go to my mom's house near Bakersfield, the water is so soft by comparison, I don't have to use any soap if I do a load of laundry. The residual soap in my clothes is enough.

anteaterscientist - You may want to consider my approach to avoiding all hair problems. I shave it all off.

Irvine water is more from local wells than MWD. Its hard but no where near as bad as my office in Orange.

We run a Reverse Osmosis and incoming is 380ppm. Its very HARD. Not sure what the ppm`s are in Irvine.

But it is at least not killing my plants.....

anteaterscientist, that smell is most likely reclaimed water used in irrigation. UC Irvine uses reclaimed water for their sprinklers and for me, that strange smell brings back fond memories of college :)

Awgee - I'm not cool enough to have a shaved head ..

myfirsthome - thanks, so that's what it is. Although I don't remember UCI having that smell, only remember large skunks roaming the campus at night.

Mozillo must have taken a dip in your reservoir.....

I live in West Park. Does the TCE make the air smell bad, like sewer? I noticed for some nights, it'd smell bad outside.

Anteater, sometimes Eff leaves the bathroom window open.

I apologize if I came off as flip when I made my water quality comment.

Both my wife and I formerly lived in an area that didn't have potable water from the tap. They told you not to drink or cook or brush your teeth with it, and take short showers/baths. It was here in California. I'm not making this up.

By comparison, there is no water quality problem in Irvine.
