Irvine Toxic Plume

<p>The El Toro toxic plume working it's way across central Irvine has been discussed in a few (slightly too specific) threads, so I'll start a general thread and we can consolidate links here.</p>

<p>Here is an article from "back east" regarding what I believe is the same solvent.</p>

<p>It looks like it was actually in water that was used on the base, which appears to not be the case currently in Irvine.</p>

IRWD has a web site and map of the plume. The cleanup project is called the "Irvine Desalter Project".





The only danger to the community is if it gets to a drinking well AFAIC. They have already switched the wells in the plumes path to filtering and irrigation only. The plume is 300 to 1000 feet below the surface.
