Irvine High grad and his a cappella group to compete in singing competition on NBC
"Kenton Chen, a talented singer, songwriter and actor who attended Alderwood Basics Plus and Venado Middle School before graduating from IHS in 2006, will be performing with his group, The Backbeats."
As I understand it, The Backbeats have made it through to the most current round so they will appear on the next episode.

Tuba players from IUSD high schools to accompany Pac-Man float in Rose Parade
"...float will be accompanied by tuba-playing students from six Orange County campuses, including our very own Irvine, University and Woodbridge high schools."
