I'm surprised this hasn't been discussed already.

Of all the articles we've discussed in the past where crimes are brushed off to protect the city's image, this is perhaps the most clear-cut case to the casual reader.

A woman's dead body was found locked in the trunk of her car several days ago near UCI. Earlier reports I had read admitted Anna Oung's body was bruised but now police say there was no evidence of trauma. Irvine PD say they DO NOT SUSPECT FOUL PLAY! They are calling it a suicide. How is it possible to beat yourself up, lock yourself in the trunk, and why would you, especially after a full day of work? This woman is an engineer in Irvine.

Here are a couple news links:http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2012/08/woman-dead-car-trunk-likely-suicide.htmlhttp://www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktla-irvine-woman-found-in-trunk,0,7638336.story

Where is BK when we need him???

I drove past Beech Tree Lane last week on my way to work and saw the street taped off.  So this is what that was all about.  Condolences to the family.

And for those on the other side of the ledger theres this:

www.pleaserobme.com

A site primarily for Twitter searches, but warns of the dangers of over disclosing your whereabouts.

Interesting!

It turns out Philadelphia Police were manipulating crime statistics to protect the city's image. Just like Irvine! It's being profiled on TV tonight. Even within the department, the rapes of several women by a serial rapist were kept hush-hush. Unfortunately, this Deep 6'ing of crimes led to the needless murder and rape of an additional victim. Police did not warn citizens to take extra precautions with a wacko on the loose. Once the citizens discovered what the police were doing, they were furious.

Read: Murder of Shannon Schieber

I used to be a bit skeptical Irvine was going to such lengths, but after the MURDER of Anna Oung - no more. It's terrible for the citizens of Irvine that the truth is not being exposed. God forbid there is ever a serial rapist or killer in Irvine - the citizens of Irvine would probably be none the wiser. It's a terrible shame when your own police can not be trusted. When will the truth about Irvine P.D. be fully discovered?

Where was most dangerous and ruthless women in the Colombian drug cartel caught hiding?  The safest city in America of course.

i think they also say that in Cocaine Cowboys - that was a really good documentary.

I checked out spotcrime.com .  Who report the incidence? It looks unreliable. There's a ring around an area in Irvine where the crimes are which look a bit too no random. When I look at other city like Huntington Beach where there's more blue collar worker. only 2 crimes are listed. Doesn't look like a reliable site.

Blue collar citizens do not mean more crimes.  Why would you make that assumption? Rich people commit more white collar, fraud, moral crimes.
