Cabinets :
Irvine Pacific in Eastwood - Belvedere has 2 different Cabinet upgrades with a huge price difference.

1. Maple Door - Colors? Espresso,Golden Rod,Sage is $2,549.00 for whole house.
2. Maple GLAZED Door ? Colors - Bodewin,French Roast,Sienna,Tuscany Glaze is $8,922.00 for whole house.

There is a price difference of $6373.

Does anybody here know why such a huge price difference. When I ask in Design Centre they say it is just the color !?!

The model house has Maple GLAZED door in color Sienna, it looks good. As far I know there are no model houses with the cheaper version of maple doors. Looking at sample door I am not able to decide between the two. Any help is appreciated.

Paint grade vs stained grade wood?

With cheaper wood, they just paint the color on.  In order to stain the color in, a higher grade of wood is required and the method is more expensive.  Probably the more expensive cabinet has the color stain in with higher grade of wood.

Supposedly the stain method is prefer especially for outdoor since the color will retain much better and no repaint required.  But for indoors, its probably is overdone.

I know this because our HOA requires the trellis color to be stain in instead of paint on.  That cost me extra $1K for the higher grade of wood.

You'll never get your money back for this.  I vote for normal white hollow core panel doors.

For Doors I am going with Hollow Core White. The question is about Cabinet Doors that are installed in Kitchen and Bathrooms.

Thanks
