IndyMac is Hiring

<p>IndyMac hired more than 600 former employees of the American Home Mortgage Investment Corporation. They indicated that they might hire 250 more.</p>

<p>IndyMac will also assume the leases on more than 90 offices where the employees worked. </p>

<p>Last month, IndyMac eliminated 400 back-office processing jobs, about 4 percent of the work force. </p>

<p>The new hires include Ron Bergum and John Johnston (former co-chief executives for retail lending in American Home’s Western region).</p>

That will be good news for the numerous out-of-work mortgage brokers in the area.

<p>I wonder why they are hiring these people? Could they be setting themselves up to take over several numerous bank's REO and foreclosures?</p>

<p>IMB is quickly ramping up its retail lending as wholesale dies down. Those people will all be retail originators.</p>
