<p align="left">Yup, IHB is growing up! In order to add more features in the future, we’ve decided to upgrade the site. We’re planning for the upgrade to take place next Saturday (4/5/08). During the upgrade, IHB will not be accessible. The estimate is for ~4 hours of downtime that day.</p>

<p>The plan is to move as much content as possible to the new system. Your existing forum username/password will continue to work. <strong>One item to note is that Forum Whispers will not be part of the migration.</strong> So if you have any important info in your Whispers, please copy it out before next Saturday.</p>

<p>We’d like IHB to be a resource for all things related to Irvine Housing. If you have ideas for how IHB can be more useful, please send them in. If you are a Real Estate Agent or work in New Home Sales, we’d love to hear from you too.</p>
 
<p>If only we could get official IHB socks, I'd be wearing one in celebration.</p>

<p>I think some folks' post counts will go down so much the AGC may be left with no members. Will the new software have whispers?</p>
 
I hope the whispers stay. It let's us talk about things we wouldn't normally in the public eye. Z? Did you just mean that whispered comments wouldn't port over?
 
Whispers won't port over. But the new software will have a complete Private Messages section (they just won't be part of the forum threads like the Whispers are).
 
Ok, so in the future the PMs won't be directly in the context of the current thread. I've been on forums like that. Will we each have a limit on how many PMs we can have stored?
 
Yes, there is a limit on:


- how many can be sent each day


- how many can be stored





The defaults are 20 and 60. That seems a bit low. What do you think about 50 and 250?
 
<p>On another forum I participate in, the PM limit is 200 for the inbox, and yes that is low. However, it's just a matter of deleting your messages on occasion, and I often don't want to spend the time to do it. </p>

<p>20 PMs sent per day might stifle graph a bit too much. </p>

<p>No lap dances that I know of, but virtual hot tubs and "fashion shows" seemed to be popular. </p>

Watch out if you're giving Awgee a virtual lap dance. . . especially if you're wearing gold something might come up in the middle of it.

<p>Most of the IHB guys seem “older”, this is how I picture them.</p>
 
<p>Suggestion: You should add a feature for each user to answer a personal questionnaire about what is their dream home in Irvine, with questions such as:</p>

<p>When would you buy -> Drop down choices for 2008 etc.</p>

<p>What is the sq ft of house you would be looking for -> Drop down with ranges, e.g. 1250 - 1500 sq ft.</p>

<p>Which village of Irvine are they interested in -> Drop down with a list of villages, and allow multiple choices if possible</p>

<p>What is the maximum price per sq ft they are realistically willing to pay, given their current financial condition -> Drop down choices in $10 increments (e.g. $140, $150, etc. up to $500 WTF)</p>

<p>Plus more information along these lines, and maybe a question if they recently bought and are willing to share broad information in the above format.</p>

<p>This data may help your site become an important source of buyer sentiment over the coming years. You could also think of many other business models based on potential uses of that information.</p>
