I've had a Blackberry Pearl for the last, erm, 20 months and really like it...I know diddly about iPhones, has anyone switched from a BBP to iPhone?
Our plan expires in January so I need to try and educate myself on what to do once it does...</blockquote>
I had Blackberrys for a long time and I dont think they are as user friendly or as encompassing as the iPhone. But thats just my opinion

The only problem that keeps us from getting an iPone right now is the AT&T;service (I think that's who they use).
We have had AT&T;before, and we really didn't like them.
We currently have Verizon, and we are happy with their service and their coverage.
99% of the time we have a cell phone signal - even in very remote places.
(Although that can be a problem when you are hiking through the rain forests in Hawaii
and your husband is still on the cell phone! - I was praying for the signal to drop.)
As soon as the iPone works with Verizon - I'm jumping.</blockquote>
According to a reliable source you can (hack) unlock the 1st generation of the Iphone and use other carrier's services. Apple knew the flaw of the 1st generation and introduce the later secured versions where Apple and AT&T;could monopolize the market. The 1st generation is being sought after big time and owners are selling it at the same price or slightly less than what they had paid for initially. For a used phone that is damn good of a selling price. People seeking the 1st generation phones are mostly interested for the purpose of hacking and reselling it for a profit to users who does not like AT&T;.
