How long do short sales take in Irvine nowadays?

After submitting an offer to a bank, how long does it usually take? I heard that the time frame is getting better in Irvine. Any truth to this?
 
We had the offer accepted in May last year and closed in Sept. I've heard various time frames when it comes to short sales, it just depends on each individual case and lien holders.
 
It took about 3.5 months from the time that I submitted my offer to the time I got lender short sale approval from Bank of America on my home.  I've represented buyers where we had to wait less than a month (an approved short sale) all the way to never getting any kind of approval (bank either foreclosed or did a loan mod with the owner).
