Are you guys putting up Holiday lights outside your home? (Holiday lights is the PC word for Christmas lights) I just picked up lights at HD for $2.50.

eyephone going PC on TI?

Yup.. going to put up some lights.  Wifey wants more stuff this year as well.  I heard Big Lots has some great deals.

Mine are already up... put them up after Halloween.

Just kidding... put them up after Turkey Day (was going to do it on Turkey Day but I couldn't get up the ladder).

What kind of ladder do you got??  ;D

One neighbor in our area put them up at 11:00 PM on Halloween. He didn't re-light them until after Thanksgiving, but COME ON!

If you have gutters I highly recommend the plastic gutter clips for hanging the lights. My first year to use them and they worked out great.

Candy Cane Lane in RSM isn't far from The Soylent Corporations HQ. Plenty of great light shows out out way so we have to keep up with the rest.

My .02c.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_controversy

Popular non-religious aspects of Christmas, such as Christmas trees, lights, and decorating are still prominently showcased and recognized, but are vaguely associated with unspecified "holidays" rather than with Christmas.[citation needed] Also, several US chain retailers, such as Walmart, Macy's, and Sears, have experimented with greeting their customers with "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings" rather than with the "Merry Christmas".[8][9]

Some supporters of using terms such as "Happy Holidays" in place of "Merry Christmas", including some atheists and agnostics as well as some adherents of non-Christian religions and Christians who do not observe Christmas as a religious holiday, may remind others that many of the symbols and traditions that Western societies have come to associate with Christmas, such as caroling, Christmas trees, mistletoe, holly wreaths and yule logs,[10][11] were originally syncretized from pre-Christian pagan traditions and festivals that predate Jesus.[12] They argue, then, that such symbols and traditions need not be directly associated with Christmas.[13][14]

Holiday light fail.

So this year, we finally LED icicle lights and added more stuff to our display.

Last year we bought that Star Shower projector but this year we decided on getting one of those moving snowflakes projectors. After ordering a couple off of Amazon prime (one white, one color), I discovered yesterday that Target was selling a Phillips branded white snowflake projector for half the price ($20) and it's even cheaper than that because holiday decor stuff is 30% off right now at Target. But it's okay, the ones we got from Amazon, we can change out the slides so we can use it for birthdays, Halloween, Memorial Day (jk)... whenever. We do like the projector lights, adds more pizzazz (and don't get the Star Shower one this year, Phillips at Target has a similar projector that's cheaper).

Target is also where we bought our LED icicle lights... bought the Target Wondershop brand which only set us back about $5.59 per 9ft string (30% off $7.99). We initially bought the Costco ones but those were a pain because 1) they were expensive (17.99?) and 2) they connected with a proprietary connector, so you couldn't connect other stuff at the end of it. I also bought some standard non-LED icicle lights just in case I had issues with the LED ones but turned out one of the standard strings would not stay lit so we ended up just using the LED ones... it was about twice as much about $22 for 4 LED strings vs $11 for 2 of the longer standard ones but I can always head over to Columbus Square to find $10 taped on one of the basketball hoops.

We also finally bought some of those lighted nets. Our shrubs are finally big enough and I got tired of zigzagging a string around it... they work pretty good and adds some color to the landscaping. We also have one of those inflatable [character omitted for anonymity] that we put on our lawn area.

Still nothing on our 2nd floor because I don't think our roof is IHO-rated.

Most of our street is pretty dead. Not too many people into holiday lighting anymore.

If you still haven't bought lights, want to buy new ones or want to add to your current stash, I recommend Target because of the 30% off.

I would post a picture but then Irvine Dream would show up at our door.

BTW, those laser projectors are going for crazy cheap now.

Just a tip: I recommmend using outdoor cords for the outside. Don't be cheap on this and use the indoor cords.

I find this kind of interesting/odd, according to my coworker only the rich people in their country puts up Christmas lights.

I know several people that did that.
It's like leasing the lights. You pay them to install the lights and then the company takes it off.

Lights are cheap here, and everybody should put it up in my opinion. My coworker complained that her husband doesn't want to buy lights nor install them. (what a bummer)
