High Density Neighborhoods = No Privacy?

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program

I checked out this one condo -

The master bedroom balcony faces another unit's balcony. Distance wise, it looks and feels really close.

(If anyone has seen Bourne Ultimatum, where Bourne was jumping from one building to another - that what these balconies remind me of)

You can't really go out into the balcony, the only view you'd get is into the neighbor's balcony. Another thing is that the neighbor has a bunch of junk on the balcony- too many plants, furniture, a hanging light fixture. I'm suprised the HOA hasn't said anything.

-Thoughts?

I have seen that many times with the balconies being so close. Makes you wonder what the builder/designers were thinking.

what happened is that many builders were tricked into purchasing large quantities of tiny, unusable balconies from a slick-talking, singing/dancing balcony salesman. he came into town and tricked us all into believing how amazing life would be with a town full of balconies. imagine rows and rows of tuscan-themed homes, each with its own balcony! reminds you of being in tuscany, yeah? standing out on your balcony in the morning with a warm cup of coffee, staring out at the beautiful vineyards surrounding your lovely tuscan villa with its balcony.

well, sir, there's nothing on earth

like a genuine,

bona fide,

stupendified

wrought iron,

balcony!

what'd i say?

balcony!

what's it called?

balcony!

that's right! balcony!

We live in a woodbury detached condo. They designed it smartly where you will rarely see one window facing another. while there are "visual" privacy, you still can't get away with sound privacy. There is a guy living nearby who is just plain noisy. And even with all our windows closed we can still hear him yakking away on the phone, playing with his dogs, and god knows what else he's doing.

So when you are within close proximity to neighbors, don't expect much privacy. :(

interesting... i'm in the same development, but maybe we're on different ends of woodbury. my entire street is extremely quiet.

Yeah. You'll have most neighbors whom are very quiet. Then there's always one who will ruin the "experience". Either this one character will be too loud. He'll wash his vehicle against HOA's rules. He'll park where he shouldn't. Lets his dog barks like crazy. Sort of like in elementary school. There's always a nutty one in the bunch. Hahaha!

That's why from what I've read on this board, I like the IAC apartment management's nice firm approach to noisy troublemakers, warning them and then kicking them out.
