If you win it, you get a house free and clear without actually paying for it, right? Let's say the appraised value is $1,000,000 and you'd just pay 1/3 in federal income taxes and take over the property taxes. As long as you could sell it for more than you paid in federal income tax, say above $400,000 you'd be okay. It would be hard to imagine a dream home losing that much value.
