I had to check out how our local lender Impac was doing since they are overdue to come out with their September monthly fact sheet. I was nice and posted a comment over at the OCR's mortgage insider's blog because he has been doing a great job on covering Impac. But Word Press put it in moderation because it had too many links. Anyway you get to hear it first depending on how quickly Matt will approve the comment.
<em>So what is going on at Impac? Looks like the <a href="http://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?action=getcompany&CIK=0001189400">COO is dumping</a> shares Mozillo style. And who is <a href="https://www.cumberlandassociatesllc.com/">Cumberland Associates LLC</a>. taking a <a href="http://sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/351262/000089914007001751/0000899140-07-001751-index.htm">9.5% stake for pennies</a>, literally pennies in the company?
Alright I will be nice. Cumberland is a huge hedge fund that has been around since the 70s that likes to buy distressed debt. Distressed is the key word here.</em>
There is going to be several opportunities out there like Impac resorting to selling a near 10% stake for pennies.
