HBO May Be Teaming Up With Apple For New 'HBO Now' Streaming Service

It?s not HBO Go. It?s HBO Now.

That?s going to be the name of HBO?s new standalone streaming service, according to a new report in the International Business Times. The outlet also said the forthcoming product will be priced at $15 a month, and that Apple is in discussions to be a launch partner.

Looks like it is confirmed. HBO Now is $14.99/month going with Apple TV.

HBO CEO is announcing a stand-alone streaming service and Apple is its exclusive partner at launch of HBO Now.

To get HBO Now you need a broadband connection and an Apple TV. HBO will introduce it in early April for $14.99 a month just in time for the next Game of Thrones season.

Meh on ditching cable.

My cable + internet bill is $94/mo and it includes a whole home dvr with 3 total set top boxes. Cut the cord and:

Internet - $40
HBO GO - $15
Netflix - $9
Sling TV $20 (only one TV at a time though)
(Note that Sling TV costs $40/mo for all channels)
-----------------
$84/mo

And all you get are:
ESPN/ESPN2
HBO
Netflix (mostly old shows / old movies)
Disney, HGTV, TBS, TNT
AMC, food network, adult swim, cartoon net, ifc, galavision, abc family

Missing:
DVR (costs $15/mo for a TIVO for only one room, plus $200 upfront)
OTA channels (need to buy an antenna and put it somewhere - need to somehow wire it up to all of your TVs
Local Sports (Angels, Ducks, Lakers, Clippers, Kings) - no way to get these
National Sports (ESPNU, ESPNEWS, FS1, FS2, NFLN, MLBN, NBAN, P12N, BTN, SECN, etc. etc)
Kids Channels (PBS, DISNEY JR, NICK JR, etc. etc.)
100s of other channels
On-Demand
New Channels (CNN, Foxnews, weather channel, etc)

So yea.. you save $10/mo and lose most of your TV.

If you never really watch TV then it's a great deal.
