Dinner at grandma's (I'll never be able to learn to cook like this...)

ba303bfe.jpg

Starting from top left:  Smoked fish, Salted chicken, Meatball with bok choy, Sea cucumber/bamboo/mushrooms stew, marinated cold cuts (egg, roast beef, sea weed, beef tendon, beancurd), Fried shrimp balls, and marinated garlic/spicy cucumbers.

Finished with some homemade chicken broth.

China Garden was packed for the family gathering dinner last weekend. That is a growing sign that the current population is losing the art of home cooking. The dishes look delicious PS and you should be grateful that Grandma is still around and able to cook such a feast with great presentation. I know this is not from a restaurant photo because the dish design patterns are random and uncoordinated pattern typical of what MovingUp described as his Asian old folk stereotype. What was sad that there were many "table of 2" patrons at China Garden.

That food looks delicious! It makes me miss the days when we'd go to my husband's grandfather's house for Chinese New Year and eat my mother-in-law's famous Shanghai-style eggrolls. I'm so hungry right now.

Interesting! 7 entrees but 8 dishes for good luck. You Chinese are so superstitious. Another stereotype.
