The beef noodle here is superior to all others that I've had in Irvine restaurants.

Cool... Is that stinky tofu?  Does the place smell like that?  If so I can't take my little one...she'll throw a fit :)

The tofu doesn't stink, which means it's just fried tofu.

They have a small menu, front side is lunch and back side is dinner.  Some of the dinner entree prices are like WTF.  I'd suggest coming here for the beef noodle.  We ordered 2 different types today and they were both good.

I see on yelp they have the black pepper filet with spaghetti on the side?  I hope it's good... That would a trip down memory lane.

Shaved ice? :)

Sorry, no shaved ice, but they have papaya milk.

I high recommend ordering the standard beef noodle with thin noodles here to start.  They give you large pieces of beef and the thin noodle's texture is excellent.

They also serve beef noodles with grilled beef, which has a nice grilled flavor to them.

Their soup flavor is slightly salty and not spicy, which means they did not add sugar to everything.

The Lamb is surprisingly good here.  Ask the lamb to be cooked to a "6" or "7" (medium rare to medium) -- in Taiwan they don't say "cook to medium", they say "cook to 7 (70% of fully cooked)".  Comes with pasta and herbal tea.

Chinese believes that foods like lamb will increase internal body temperature, so the cool herbal tea helps to cool it down.  Pairs well.

Man I will have to take a trip there soon... how's the parking?  Gym vs Fukada vs Montessori.. must be crazy during peak workout/dining rush/pick up times...

I've never had trouble finding a parking space there, though in the future that may change as the apartments across the street is built out.  Yes, I predict people will drive across the street instead of walking.

Pickled napa cabbage?  Shouldn't this be regular cabbage to pair with the beef stew noodles?  Too sweet and not enough pepper and of course the napa texture is all wrong

Fried calamari, the highlight of our meal.. nice breading.. perfectly fried.. but enough to bring us back?

Signature dish.. but too oily/heavy... meat cuts were fatty and too big.. I prefer smaller chunks of meat with little bits of fat/connective tissue..and the broth is underspiced.. I guess I'm use to A&J's version

Grilled beef.. it did have a nice roasty flavor like momopi said.. but the broth is bland.. and the texture is still a little chewy.. flank is tough.. maybe braise it longer and then throw it on the grill?

Overall I was disappointed with this place.  The bathrooms had a funk that I haven't encountered since visiting Asia (isn't this a new place?).  Beef stew noodle was too bland for my taste.. beef flank is not the best cut of beef.. chewy and tough.. and get too "beefy" for me if not cooked right.. Extra seasoning is needed to cover up for the cheap cut of meat.. And please don't cheap out and print both the dinner and lunch menu on the same piece of laminated/taped corrections menu.  Confuses diners and we hate it when we can't get what we want.  We came in at 11:30 when they opened.. and quickly filled up after 12pm.. They sat a huge work group in the middle of the restaurant and also 5 other tables at the same time.. Ouch... They need somebody running the board to avoid service disruptions.. they must think they're Fukada to be able to seat the whole restaurant at once and still be able to function..

...the asparagus in the soup should have given it away, that they are trying to go "light and healthy", except the serving size of the beef is XL.
