Hi guys,

I recently bought and moved into a condo in Irvine, and I just got a letter in the mail from the office of Claude Parrish, County Assessor.

It is asking me to fill out a form, including my SSN and some other details. From what I can find on google, this is to claim a ~$75 saving on property tax.

I assume this is totally legit, but just just wanted to make sure before I mail it in. The title of the letter sounds almost like an advertisement.

The included self-addressed envelope is to

Claude Parrish
OC Assessor
PO Box 628
Santa Ana CA 92702-0628

Has anyone else gotten this letter after moving in?

Yes. Legit. You get to pay a little less if it's your primary residence.

Homeowners exemption. You get a $75 reduction in taxes on a primary residence. Anyone know how long its been since the number has been changed? Seems like a relic of earlier times when home values were MUCH lower.
