Geo Visitor Type Map

Maybe I'm the only one who's curious, but would you be able to display one of those geo visitor type maps? Not sure exactly what it is called, but it will estimate the location of visitors to IHB from around the world and I for one would be interested if this was being tracked--especially a map which displays the strength (number) of visitors from a region, but it wouldn't have to be. And something ongoing as opposed to "within the past 24 hours". Feel free to shoot me down. No offense taken.
 
This type of info is being tracked as part of the website statistics and it's driven by a date range. The map shows how many visitors are from each country or city when you hover over it. But I'm not aware of a way to make those available to the public. :(

I kept looking and I found something that may be what you are looking for. I just installed it so it doesn't have past data but it is real time. At the bottom of every page on the blog is a button that looks like this: <img src="http://whos.amung.us/swidget/zkoynqsp.gif" alt="" />.



Click that (or just go <a href="http://whos.amung.us/show/zkoynqsp">here</a>) and you'll be able to see a map as well as some other cool stats.



Let me know if this is what you had in mind. If not, I'll keep looking..

Thanks for effort in following up. So, far Amung.us looks promising so I look forward to reviewing the stats over the next few days/weeks.
 
OMG, it's 8:10 p.m. Thursday, July 17 and according to who's.amung.us website, there are people all over the U.S. reading IHB (not surprising). But the hits outside of the U.S. are astonishing - Mexico, Canada, Panama, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, China (oh, oh those foreign buyers), South Korea, Indonesia and France (or the Netherlands). Thanks Adam for the suggestion.

Zovall, I've looked everywhere for that little icon for this map. I can't find it either on the main blog, nor on the forums. Perhaps Firefox doesn't display it ?



Is anyone else having trouble seeing it?



Also, I was up at 3:00 am and checked it from the link here on this thread. I was the ONLY blue dot in the entire world on...all the other blue dots were gone. It also said I'm in Burbank...but I'm actually in LA, but very close to BBAnk. Maybe that's where my server is.

Weird... it is no longer there. It doesn't show up in Firefox or IE.
 
I just checked the link again and the map now shows 4 dots, but says "1 online". Not sure what that means b/c the main forum page shows about 9 online right now. Hmmm.



Anywho, is that you in Merritt Island, Fla. Liz ?

Liz, just click on the blue hyperlink on this thread, the click on the word "maps" on that page. Scroll your cursor over the blue stars.
