Taiwanese folks like their steak covered in sauce, and pizza loaded with toppings.  Be warned that the steak arrives on a sizzling hot plate.  In American restaurants they usually wait a bit for the food to cool to a warm temperature before serving.  Taiwanese want their steaks served sizzling hot.

Haha, probably why I like Ruth's Chris Steak House when they serve the steaks on sizzling hot plates.  I can do without the sauce if it's high quality aged prime steak, but I appreciate the sauce if it adds good flavors and lubricates the regular cuts.

Haven't been to TW in awhile.. do they still have the food court level/basement in the shopping centers?  Remember eating these type of steaks there when I was little.  Usually comes with a shredded cabbage salad with thousand island?  and a corn soup?

So was this place any good?  Last time I had TW steak was in the food court on Nogales/Fullerton..I was not impressed.

Yes, you can still find the food court at B1 in TW department stores.  I'll be in TW & HK in June and will take some pictures.

This restaurant's food is decent and the price is right.  If you had dined at Life Plaza off Fullerton Rd (Diamond Plaza), they're gone now (replaced by the same sushi chain as the one in Diamond Jamboree)

Can't wait to see the TW pics... would do it myself.. but my little one is not ready for the 16 hr flight yet... (cringe)...

If this is still the same place, then it's been around forever.  Probably have changed ownership several times over the past couple of decades.  One owner actually opened up O'Shine Cafe on Jeffrey and Walnut years back, which is now Shi Do Rak.

I miss oshine  :(

The son of the owner is a chiropractor and did not want to run a restaurant, so they closed the restaurant and he's running a chiropractor's office in Irvine.

Man!! I use to go to O'Shine all the time.. Got their Pai Goo Faun and Boba Milk tea.. oh well..

Thanks for the update Momo

Was O'Shine that good?  Not much competition back then... I prefer Nice Time Deli across the street for my mediocre Tw food.  Actually got use to the blandness and miss it now..

O'shine's pai gu fan was one of the best.  His parents are running a small catering business, so you can still go to the chiropractor's office and order various Taiwanese "small eats" for Friday afternoon pick up.

o.O  That's news to me.  I was at a Wedding banquet couple years ago and seated at the same table with the mom.

Have you tried the pork chop rice at Han Taiwanese?  It's pretty good for Irvine.

Thanks for the tip.  I know where I'll be for lunch this week!

Good Taiwanese in QH? That seems like a challenge, haha.

I looked at the yelp reviews and a friend just reviewed the place with 4 stars.  I will have to check it out.  I typically go to Yu's Garden and order from the dishes when I eat in Irvine.
