The OC Foodie Fest Rolls Into Town

?
Remember when we asked if OC was ready for a street food festival?

Well, ready or not, here it comes! The OC Foodie Fest will take place Saturday, August 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Honda Center in beautiful Anaheim.

As of this writing, 34 food trucks have committed; the organizers are hoping for a total of 50. Proceeds will go to three OC charities: Pretend City Children's Museum in Irvine, Child S.H.A.R.E., an outreach program to find foster families, and St. Vincent's Meals on Wheels.

There'll be live music; Ludo Fried Chicken; our very own Filipino food blogger truck, Burnt Lumpia; and masses and masses of hungry people.

Learn a lesson from previous food truck flash mobs, from downtown L.A. to Calabasas: get there early, go in groups (so you can divide and conquer) and, above all, be patient.

Free tip: the Honda Center is directly on the Santa Ana River Trail, a paved bike trail that goes from Corona to Huntington and Newport Beaches; park for free someplace else along the train, bring a bike, and chain it up when you get there. You'll be glad you did.

See you there!

I was waiting to post this...but since the cat's out of the bag...

they fried bologna slider sounds great, havent tried that one yet.

Thanks for the heads up. What's your favorite thing to get there? I've never been to a food truck.

I wonder why they're going to a school on a Saturday. Seems weird.

I've read they have crazy long lines. Do they still or has the novelty worn off by now?

If it gets crowded, get ready to wait.... Bring your phone to browse TI/Redfin, people who frequent these food trucks are patient because they are focused on Facebook/twitter on their phones, ignoring the rest of humanity...

my favorite is the mini-mac, but its not ton the menu this week.  from what is on the menu this week ive had the cheeseburger, PB&J and vegetarian, all of them are very good. their carne asada fries are also very good, but not on the menu this week.  the line depends, ive been to the truck when it has been in various irvine apartment complexes and the lines have been short to non-existent.

Irvine is the last place I would expect to see ghetto food trucks. Since it is now a trend and Irvine is all about trend then food trucks are permitted to roam outside construction job sites.

There's a group of food trucks that come at the parking lot across the street from Costco, but I don't remember which day.

If you're talking about the one across from the District, they don't go there anymore since that hockey store opened.
