I recently surprised Mr. SoCal with a trip to Flight Deck - Air Combat Center in Anaheim.

As you can see on their site, you suit up in real jumpsuits after going to "flight school". Then you load yourself into an F-16 cockpit and dogfight your group on some giant screens. It was a lot of fun!

Anywho. They gave us two $10 off coupons for another visit. I'm offering to mail them to whoever replies first.

You can also sometimes find a Groupon for this or other discounted tickets through that type of site. I got mine through CheapIrvine.com.

We are thinking about having a corporate event here. Would you recommend it for a team building activity?

If they can set up the software to accommodate team goals, then yeah, definitely. When I was there, the goal was: every man for himself. I see they advertise team-building events so I would imagine it's a simple change to the normal routine. Having been there, I would say one down-side is the male advantage when you have men and women in a squadron together. I don't spend a lot (read: any) time playing Flight Sim games like the mister does, so it was all new and a little frustrating to me while he was "mopping up the sky". But, I guess the same would go for paintball and any number of other male-oriented team-building tasks. The benefits it has to team-building, in my mind, would be: bonding, personality-assessments, communication, identifying strengths & weaknesses, etc. I would call them and verify if they incorporate team-oriented goals. I think, but not sure, the group before us was doing squadron vs. squadron.

What is the regular price?  If it is not too expensive after the coupon, I would not mind them.

davenlei: Yes, what Homer said. Also, I just called them to verify if it's ok to use for a first-time customer (since the card says it's good on the "next visit"). Paul at Flight Deck says they don't normally for first-timers but will honor them for first-time use with a party of two or more and to mention his name. If you want them, send me a PM with an address to mail to. The best values are waiting for the group deals but who knows when that will pop up again.
